This spring, hundreds of green school advocates and leaders will gather in Pittsburgh for the sixth annual Green Schools Conference and Expo (GSCE), the nation’s premier event for programming, products, workshops and sessions about sustainability and our educational institutions.

When: March 31–April 1, 2016

Where: David L. Lawrence Convention Center, 1000 Ft. Duquesne Boulevard, Pittsburgh, PA, 15222

Presented by the Center for Green Schools, this year’s conference has the theme of “Three Rivers, Three Pillars.” Long ago, major cities often were built around waterways, which acted as a mecca of commerce, ideas and meetings. Appropriately enough, the foundation of the green schools movement is its three core pillars:

  • To reduce schools' environmental footprint.
  • To ensure they are healthy for those who learn and work inside them daily.
  • For students to demonstrate eco-literacy.

Just like the rivers in Pittsburgh that are constantly in motion, we always are learning, improving and exchanging ideas. Dive into the sustainable schools wave at GSCE 2016 to help keep the tide rolling by registering for the conference.

Special hotel rates for GSCE attendees

Discounted hotel rates are being offered at the Westin Convention Center Pittsburgh and the Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel for conferencegoers.

The Westin Convention Center Pittsburgh hotel is directly connected to the Pittsburgh Convention Center. It’s the only convention center in the world with two LEED certifications—LEED Gold for New Construction and LEED Platinum for Existing Buildings.
