The Green Schools Conference (GSC) is now accepting proposals for interdisciplinary education sessions, workshops and tours and applications for volunteers to review the program to be presented during the March 2024 in-person conference. Submit a session proposal by 11:59 p.m. ET on May 30.

GSC is the only national event to unite all players involved in making green schools a reality: people who lead, operate, build and teach in U.S. schools. The 13th annual in-person GSC will convene hundreds of champions for sustainable schools to focus on educating, connecting and inspiring one another. Over the course of the conference, attendees will explore interdisciplinary green school content during general and breakout sessions while having dedicated time with peers to work through specific challenges, share best practices and generate momentum to further green school actions across the country.

GSC 2024 program

We strive to build an innovative and inspiring program, and we hope you will consider participating! Whether you are a teacher, school or district staff, educational leader, parent, student, building industry professional or nonprofit partner, we hope you will consider showcasing your successful green school strategies through this event.

The 2024 program will address various topics related to sustainable schools, including environmental impact, health and well-being, sustainability literacy, and equity. Each session will feature an interdisciplinary team of presenters showcasing the intersection of these topics across a school, school district or community.

Additionally, the program will feature sessions that address these priority topics:

  • Leveraging new funding sources and models
  • Intersectionality of sustainability and equity
  • Empowering student voices for climate action
  • Nature-based strategies for education and wellness

We also accept submissions for half- and full-day off-site tours and 2-hour hands-on workshops. These experiences are intended to build upon the main conference program by allowing attendees to get out into the community to explore local examples of proven green school practices.

How to participate

All complete proposals must be uploaded to the GSC 2024 submittal site by May 30 at 11:59 PM ET. Consult the GSC call for proposals and submittal guide documents to determine where your proposal best fits and learn how it will be reviewed.

Apply to be a program reviewer

Program reviewers evaluate session proposals and help maintain the quality of sessions by identifying exceptional presentations. Reviewers can earn continuing education hours and receive a discounted conference pass to GSC for participating. Review the GSC call for reviewers document for more information on applying. The entire review process takes place digitally and does not require an in-person commitment.
